This year's DrupalCon Chicago made one thing clear: what has been debated as a trend for years now has a name, a date, and a roadmap. The Drupal ecosystem is evolving into an AI-powered platform, and Chicago was where that direction became more concrete than ever.
We had the privilege of attending DrupalCon Chicago to closely analyze Dries Buytaert's announcements and understand how these innovations will transform our clients' projects in the years ahead.
For us — a team that has spent years building Drupal solutions in Colombia and the region — it was a powerful confirmation that we are aligned with the global direction of the project.
Drupal: speed, scale, and artificial intelligence
Dries Buytaert, Drupal's founder, opened the event with a presentation full of nostalgia, vision, and strategic clarity. He recalled how Drupal started as an experiment among friends and how it has grown into a world-class platform. The central message was clear: Drupal hasn't just modernized its foundations — it's now designed to thrive in an AI-driven world.
One of the first announcements to prove it is the new template marketplace. With 11 templates ready for different sectors, it's now possible to launch complete sites in minutes, with professional design and without initially relying on a designer or expert developer. A concrete first step toward a more accessible platform — and it doesn't stop there.
Prototypes in minutes, real systems in Drupal
Dries was emphatic: in 2026, AI is no longer an add-on module — it's part of Drupal's infrastructure. One of the most striking moments of the event was a live demo where a complete site took shape in 15 minutes using AI tools.
But the key point Dries made is that an AI-generated prototype is not a production system. With a simple prompt, AI generates the full site: layout, page structure, and initial content, all editable from the start. The difference comes after: the result isn't hardcoded, but built on an architecture that can be maintained, scaled, and governed long-term. That's where Drupal makes the difference.
This capability is currently in prototype stage, but what was shown in Chicago was enough to understand where Drupal is headed — and the direction is clear.
Context Control Center: the AI that already knows your brand
Anyone who has used AI to create content knows what it's like to start every session explaining who the brand is, how it speaks, who it speaks to, and what it offers. And doing it again next time. And the time after that.
Drupal introduced the beta version of the Context Control Center, a system that centralizes everything the AI needs to generate content aligned with the organization: brand voice and tone, guidelines, target audience, and product information.
The result is an AI that doesn't produce generic content, but one that already knows how the organization speaks, who it speaks to, and what it offers without having to remind it over and over again.
With the 1.0 release expected in the coming months, ahead of DrupalCon Rotterdam, the CCC is shaping up to be one of the most concrete and useful changes for any team producing content in Drupal.
AI Agents: all your site's performance, in one place
Drupal announced the development of AI Agents, a system that connects with external platforms to monitor site performance and alert when something goes wrong: a broken link, a drop in key metrics — all visible from within Drupal, without having to open another tool.
The idea is simple but powerful: instead of keeping tabs on multiple platforms and reports, the site itself notifies you. A feature still in development, but one that already points to a shift in how teams manage their digital platforms.
Seed EM's commitment
We returned from Chicago with a clear roadmap and the confirmation that the direction we've taken as Platinum Partners has more backing than ever. AI integration in Drupal isn't a distant future announcement — it's a process already underway, and we're supporting our clients every step of the way.
The future of content is being built right now, and at Seed EM, we're ready to build it with you.
